Our Services
We understand that your concerns as a patient are as diverse as the kinds of neurological disorders we treat. So at the Neurology Institute of San Antionio (or NISA, as we like to call it), we’ve designed our practice to consider the most comprehensive and up-to-date treatment plan for your specific needs.
In addition to our personal consultations, we also offer or facilitate:
Nerve electrical studies (EMG/NCV)
- EMG/NCV stands for electromyography/nerve conduction velocity. This may be helpful in determining the cause of neck or back pain, nerve pain, numbness or weakness.
Brainwave testing (EEG)
- EEG stands for electroencephalography and is used to measure the brain’s electrical activity through electrodes attached to the scalp. It can help evaluate seizures, fainting or confusion spells.
Deep Brain Stimulation
- DBS is a surgically implanted device that can be adjusted in our office. DBS is used to help certain patients with tremor, Parkinson’s disease or involuntary movements.
Vagal Nerve Stimulation
- VNS is a surgically implanted device used to treat medically refractory epilepsy.
Lumbar Puncture
- LP or spinal tap is an ‘in office’ procedure to evaluate cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). It can help diagnose multiple sclerosis, infection or CSF pressure problems.
Interventional Spinal Procedures
- Fluoroscopy Guided Facet Injections.
- Fluoroscopy Guided Epidural Injections.
Imaging Services including MRI, CT and traditional x-rays
- MRI uses non-invasive, non-radiating methods to visualize the brain and spinal cord with great detail. CT uses low-dose radiation to evaluate certain brain and spinal cord disease.
Botulinum Toxin Administration
Ambulatory infusion therapy
